HUNGER STONE
Meet me at the hunger stone We found among the river’s bones Where once a sacred fire shone We’ll learn to love to live alone And weep, it’s time to starve All around like shattered glass Sun-baked shards fall from the past On the ground we haven’t asked Who are we now our father’s passed? So weep, it’s time to starve Behind the walls my body lies Through windswept days and restless nights Marked by scars not recognized Inside the box my money buys So weep, it’s time to starve Now weep, it’s time to starve Meet me at the lemon tree We watered since she was a seed Remind me who I want to be Her end I hope we’ll never see
